Calling
all Daisy, Brownie & Junior Girl Scout Leaders . . . Have you
been searching for new and creative ways for your girls
to earn their badges? How about decorating
sarongs? Daisy Scouts (age 5-6) can make gifts;
Brownie Scouts (age 6-8) can earn their Try-It Patch Art To
Wear; Junior Girl Scouts (age 8-11) can earn their
Fabric Arts, Jeweler, Drawing & Painting badges;
Senior Scouts - Studio 2B (age 11-17) can earn their
Artistic Crafts, Fashion Design, or Just Jewelry
badges. This could also be a popular summer camp arts and craft project at
Camp Skimino in Williamsburg, Virginia.
As a past Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for many
years, I too experienced the challenge of bringing new and exciting
ways to keep the girls interested in scouting, yet develop their
creative minds ... it dawned on
me, why not decorate sarongs! At Caribbean Wraps
International, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia (near the
Fairfield Shopping Center) - we have had many scout leaders
throughout the nation use this concept at their troop meetings,
World Day and multicultural events, even
birthday parties! The Girl Scout Leaders themselves
suggested we should really offer this program. And we agree
that decorating sarongs is perfect for all ages as a
"Program Fun" activity.

What does it Cost? For just $5.00 per
girl, you can purchase plain white rayon sarongs (made in Bali, Indonesia) - or any of our
other rayon sarongs with tropical designs. Troop leaders provide
all other supplies and patches. At your troop meetings or

girls can have a sarong party, by:

painting designs by free hand all over
-
stenciling, stamping or tie dying borders or
designs

adding beads to the sarong fringe

sewing or cross stitching directly onto the
sarong

a
budding fashion designer might even be waiting to emerge
